This discussion of blending your indoor and outdoor entertaining spaces is on the forefront of many people’s minds these days, which is why I wanted to take a moment to discuss outdoor furniture.

Wooden furniture in particular can often take a beating from harsh weather conditions such as rain, snow, ice, and sunlight. For this reason, some people are skeptical about refinishing this type of furniture as they feel it is a tedious task and a waste of time. However, for those that make the decision to give their outdoor wooden furniture new life, they find that it is well worth it. I wanted to share some helpful tips for how to refinish outdoor furniture (wooden furniture in particular):

First, remove the old finish. This is actually an easier task than you may think since the weather elements often help to naturally loosen the existing finish, and a pressure washer can help with this process as well. The piece should also be sanded.

The next and final step is to apply the finish. Once you select your finish, simply apply it with a paintbrush or foam brush.
