New England in general is rich in history, and those of us that live in the region are reminded about this on a daily basis simply by taking a ride through town and passing by architecture that is many centuries old.

Another great way to see how we have been impacted by those that came before us is to check out some of the furniture exhibits in New England, such as the Cabinetmaker & the Carver: Boston Furniture from Private Collections exhibit. This event is currently taking place through January 17, 2014 at the Massachusetts Historical Society and features over four centuries of inspirational pieces that demonstrate how furniture has made an impact on our culture in a historical sense.

Something that sets this exhibit apart from others is that patrons can further appreciate how the featured pieces made a contribution in a historical sense by the various documents, portraits and other supporting evidence that are on display throughout the event.

This furniture exhibition is just one of several events that are put on by the Massachusetts Historical Society throughout the year to honor the region’s Four Centuries of Furniture Making collaborative, which celebrates the state’s legacy of furniture making.

If you attend one of these furniture exhibits in New England and find a piece that really moves you, I encourage you to reach out to a fine furniture craftsman like myself to discuss commissioning a similar quality piece for your home or office. To learn more about me and the quality of work that I produce, I invite you to visit my online gallery or contact me directly for further discussion.
