Tips for Keeping Your Cherry Wood Cabinets Clean
I recently used my design blog to highlight some of the characteristics of cherry wood and why this is a great material to work with. Cherry wood cabinets are in high demand by homeowners looking to upgrade their kitchens, and for a good reason.
First of all, the reddish-brown color of the wood and its smooth grain make this material choice for cabinetry an attractive one. Cherry cabinetry is also very versatile as it looks great in nearly every setting, whether your preferred style is traditional or more modern. Another reason why cherry is such a desirable wood to use for kitchen cabinetry is due to its durability. Although it’s not a very hard wood, it still can withstand the heavy duty damage that comes along with everyday mobility in the kitchen.
To help keep your cherry cabinets (or really any wood-stained cabinets) looking their best, I wanted to share the following cleaning tips:
- First, use a soft, lint free cloth to to rid your cabinets of dirt and dust. Microfiber cloths are the ideal answer for dusting. When the clothes are really dirty, just toss them in the washing machine.
- You can use a little water and mild soap to wipe away food stains – no scrub pads! Wipe off the water immediately after cleaning.
- In general, a kitchen cabinet will have a very tough clear outer coating – you want to just buff it up – I use Howard’s Feed & Wax.
