The New Hampshire Furniture Masters are Dedicated to Education, Workmanship, and Creating Unique, High-Quality Pieces
Formed in 1994 by some of the most renowned furniture makers in the New Hampshire area, the New Hampshire Furniture Masters are dedicated to raising public awareness of the craft of fine furniture making and building an audience that appreciates these handmade, high quality pieces. This unique organization is able to create excitement for its industry by hosting a number of educational workshops, showcasing members’ creations through a series of exhibitions, and holding an annual celebration event.
With education being such a vital part of the organization’s mission, the Furniture Masters support two primary educational initiatives: the Prison Outreach Program and the Studio Based Learning Program. Through the Prison Outreach Program, members of the organization offer instruction to inmates that will soon be exiting the system and want to take furniture-making skills with them.
The Studio Based Learning Program consists of mentorship programs and a three-year curriculum to provide a unique, individualized program that involves studying in the studios of the Masters. By having the opportunity to work with a Furniture Master one-on-one, the student not only receives an enhanced skills-building experience, but gains a better understanding for life in a real furniture business.
