The Society of Arts and Crafts in Boston Offers Fellowships, Mentor Programs, and Other Opportunities to Up-and-Coming Artists
The Society of Arts and Crafts was established in 1897 in Boston in an effort to recognize and offer support to the American craft movement and has played an instrumental role in inspiring development, increasing sales, and providing educational opportunities for arts and crafts.
For new artists at the Society of Arts and Crafts, there are several programs available to help them grow in their careers. First, the SAC Mentor Program offers new and up-and-coming artists assistance with marketing, legal and insurance issues, portfolio development, how to handle pricing, and selling advice.
Another way that the SAC can help new artists is through its Artist Awards. Every two years three artists are selected to receive a $3,000 cash award for their work and are featured in a group exhibition at the gallery from May through July.
A third way that the SAC can benefit a new artist is through its John D. Mineck Fellowship Program, which helps a furniture artist young in his career succeed by offering financial assistance.
Exhibitions are mainly by invitation, but If you’re interested, you can learn more about the Exhibition Gallery Jury Process here. To learn more about the world of fine furniture and see more of my work, check out my website.
This is a great opportunity!
