Another Opportunity to Get a Feel for Victorian-Style Furniture Is Coming to New England

I frequently use my blog to cover a variety of styles that those interested in commissioning a piece of furniture may want to consider, and I recently touched on Victorian style furniture.

If you enjoyed hearing about furniture from the Victorian era and are now intrigued, one of the best furniture exhibits in New England to show this style is Victorian Furniture: Design Run Amok or Inspired Creativity? This lecture is part of the Four Centuries of Massachusetts Furniture series of exhibits and events, and curator Nancy Carlisle will walk through the highs and lows of Victorian furniture design.

The lecture will take place from 7-8:30 pm on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Gov. Henry Lippitt House Museum (Historic New England) in Providence, Rhode Island. Tickets are $5 for members of Historic New England and Preserve Rhode Island and $10 for non-members. Be sure to stick around after the lecture as the curator, Nancy Carlisle, and Lippitt House Director Carrie Taylor will walk attendees through some of the more famous Victorian pieces designed by Pottier & Stymus and Anthony, Potter & Denison.

To learn more about this exciting lecture and some of the other furniture exhibits in New England, please contact me, Richard Oedel, Fine Furniture Master. I strongly encourage anyone that is considering commissioning a piece of furniture to do their research to search for inspiration and to find their ideal style.
